WARSAW: Poland to allow Indian students fleeing Ukraine to enter without any visa restrictions
WARSAW: Accepting India’s request to facilitate evacuation of countrymen from Ukraine, Poland will now allow Indian students to enter from the war-ravaged nation without any visa restrictions. Polish ambassador to India Adam Burakowski Tweeted Sunday, “Poland is allowing to enter without any visa all Indian students who escape from Russian aggression in Ukraine.”
Meanwhile India plans to send two charters to Bucharest and one to Budapest on Sunday, of which one operated in the morning. “Fourth Operation Ganga flight is wheels up from Bucharest. 198 Indian nationals are coming back to Delhi,” foreign minister S Jaishankar who is overseeing the evacuation exercise Tweeted Sunday morning.
The Indian embassy in Kyiv in an advisory Sunday said Indians are being evacuated through Romania and Hungary and it is working to open up more borders with Ukraine neighbours. “As and when curfew is lifted, and there is considerable movement of people in your respective neighbourhoods, Indian nationals are advised to use nearby railway stations for movement out of regions of active conflict and proceed towards the Western regions. Railways is operational and safer,” the advisory says.
Apart from regular trains, Ukrainian Railways is also operating special trains for evacuation of people free of charge, on first come first serve basis. “Indian Nationals are advised to travel in groups, and in case of individuals, you are advised to identify other fellow Indian Nationals and travel together with them. Preference at railway stations is being given to children, women and elderly people,” it added.
