MUMBAI : TaapseePannu: I was not beautiful enough to win (Miss India)

MUMBAI: Bollywood heartthrob TaapseePannu has been enjoying the success of her latest release, LooopLapeta, opposite Tahir Raj Bhasin. Helmed by Aakash Bhatia, the film was released on the OTT platform Netflix on 4th February. While the audience has appreciated the film, it also received a thumbs up from actress FrankaPotente of the original movie, Run Lola Run.

However, taking a peek at her journey so far during a recent interview, Taapsee opened up on why she did not make it as the winner of Femina Miss India 2008.

While we have all witnessed her journey to success, very few are aware of her pageantry past. The Punjabi kudi participated in the prestigious national pageant and was awarded ‘Femina Miss Fresh Face’ and ‘Femina Miss Beautiful Skin’ at the event finale but failed to win the coveted crown. Parvathy Omanakuttan was crowned the winner of Femina Miss India 2008. On being quizzed by a source about her tryst with the Miss India pageant, she said, “I did not make it to the top 10. I was not beautiful enough to win, but I won the ‘Miss Fresh Face’ and ‘Miss Beautiful Skin titles.'”

Soon after her stint in pageantry, she went back to modeling and finally became an actor. Proving her caliber down south with back-to-back hits, she made her entry in Bollywood. Previously sharing light on her pageant experience, the queen had remarked, “It was an interesting experience, full of ups and downs. There were days when I was really happy, and there were days when I felt like coming back, leaving everything. We had 14 experts to train us, and no doubt it was a great learning experience, the most important was that we had to live and adjust with 28 strangers, girls who not only came from different parts of the country and the world but also from different kinds of backgrounds. So in all, it’s an experience to treasure.”

While she laughed it off by saying she ‘was not beautiful enough to win the pageant’, she sure did find her true calling and is en route to great glory. On the work front, Taapsee also has ShabaashMithu, Blurr, Do Baraah, and Woh Ladki Hai Kahan lined up for release this year.
